What you will learn: Each group caters to beginner/intermediate sewists through a collaborative and creative process designed to foster a love of sewing and a problem solving mindset.
We will cover sewing machine use, safety, design of sewing projects and development of sewing skills.
Students will learn at their own pace and complete a beginner friendly project every one or two lessons for junior classes, and occasional longer projects for teen classes.
Usually students will decide on one larger project per term in addition to smaller projects.
Prerequisites: None! Absolute beginners are welcome. Kids who have sewn a little before will also enjoy the projects and learn many new skills.
What to bring: You may bring along your own sewing machine to learn on, or borrow one of my vintage sewing machines for your lesson. Also bring along some basic sewing supplies (scissors etc) if you have them, labelled if possible.
Upcycled fabrics and scraps will be supplied on-site for students to use for smaller projects. Students will also be required to bring along their own fabrics for larger projects and upcycling is encouraged.
